Public hearings on Legal Aid Issue:
The objective of the event was to improve the understanding among the government, police makers, local leaders and the relevant institution’s members. Through the question-and-answer session of the event community, people will get free legal advice on various issues like lend disputes, family disputes, financial disputes etc. It will help them solve their problem. This event will help to implement the lobby and advocacy program and the attitude of all relevant people will change in a positive way.
Facilitation and monitoring of bi-Month meetings of UZLAC:
Nusrat Jahan Khan, Member Secretary Upazila Legal Aid Committee & Upazila Nirbhai Officer, Rajapur, Rajapur Upazila Legal Aid Committee has been and orientation has been completed through the PPJ project. We have organized four bi-monthly meetings. Through this meeting, we discussed challenges and how to solve the problem. We identified some problems like no legal aid budget in UZLAC & UPLAC & transportation of legal aid clients. As a member of UZLAC, we should promote legal aid massage among the community.
Publishing a local newspaper legal aid massage:
Md. Moniruzzamn, Chairman, Upazila Legal Aid Committee and Chairman, Rajapur Upazila, said that- Government provides legal aid law and announced 28 April as national legal aid day. Every Upazila and Union has a respective legal aid committee. The main responsibilities of every UZLAC & UPLAC are to send the victims to DLAC and disseminate legal aid-related information among the community. So, the committee members should have internal good communication and understanding, and have to sincerity and efficacy about their responsibility.
